This is such as a comedian television program which describes about the English learning situation related to some foreign student who are basicly difficult to understand more about English in learning process.
Miss courtney, a principal, has already requested to the Local Authority to send her a woman teacher. Distinctly, she is not allowed to She supposes that recruiting the woman teacher will be a better way with a controlled patience. But how unsatisfactory she is! Someone coming for her is not what she needs. The teacher is a man. Jeremy Brown, his name, applies this job well to fulfil his economic situation and inflation. And he does needs a job truly. At first, Miss courtney objects his job application so far. She only needs a woman as the teacher. She tries to explain to him why it should be. It is caused by the disgusting incident from Mr. Warburton who could not handle some foreign students well. On eventually, he climbed out of the classroom window, took all his clothes off and stood there stark naked. Finally, He is demented. Hearing it, Jeremy Brown assures her that he won’t do those all digustingly. He will be a qualified one and do a better thing. Finally, she accepts his readiness to start teaching immediatelly without whimper anymore.
During learning in the class, he got difficulty in understanding some students’ languages. It is caused by many kinds of various foreign students from several countries around the world who particate attending the class collectively. However, they have difficullty in speaking English fluently and still keep on using their native language stickly. Patiently, Mr. Brow tries to comprehend their native language and give some instruction by sign language. For instance, taking their names or nationalities is really hard to do. Because some of them don’t understand English at all. At last, He can do it although he needs more patient to make understanding one by one.
Interrupting for a while, Miss courtney enters to class to remind Mr. Brown to collect the money for registration fee. There are nine students in the class. It should be collected for about 45 pounds exactly. But in fact, their foreign currency is different form others, so, Mr. brown only reports what he gets in collecting depends on their own currency themselves. However, Miss courtney doesn’t want to accept it. She suggests him to go to the bank for converting the collected money into English currency.
Mr. Brwon starts teaching “To be” in the first meeting of learning English. TO make sure how deep their understanding of this lesson, Mr. Brown goes around while asking all students one by one to exercise them. They must be able to make a simple sentence using “To be”.
The complicated one is Ali. Actually he has a better ability in speaking English than others. But sometimes he really doesn’t understand the questions of what the teacher asks to him. In other side, he has already answered the question well.
In the last session of the first meeting, Mr. brown gives homework for all students to write an essay about a short story of their life in England.
This is a kind of the most personal book i have. Why do i choose this book? because it contains lots of studies and understandings more about Australia generally. However, this book is primarily written for indonesian students who are interested in knowing more about their southern neighbour, Australia. This such a educational book also provides them about what an introductory of Australia geographically is, what kinds of spesific cultures are, how they manage their governmental politics, education system, and many others.
Commonly, i am interested in reading several educational books, so this book includes an appropriate book i have to read. It probably differs from others who prefer reading lots of novels, comics, or magazines. But it rarely nothing happens to me. I am used to spare my leisure time to read such a this book.
Talking about this book, There are several kinds of cultures and customs which distinguish distinctly between Indonesia and Australian in influencing their social and economic developments. It must be known for new learners after reading this book completely. Additionally, this book also occupies all materials to assist exactly some indonesian students who have a great intention to continue their study in Australian. It will be a good preparation to know every single thing that must be understood when they are staying in Australia. Therefore, i am totally addicted to deepen several contents at glance such as lifestyle, cost of living, and also tourism places in Australia.
Knowing more, i am surprised about the author of this book. Hartoyo, an Indonesian student, has already finished his doctorate (Ph.D) from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia with his dissertation. As following up, he decides to share what he obtains, and undergoes to others during staying in Australia. it means that it possibly happens to me also to keep on studying abroad as he did. Being a successful person, he straightly motivates me about his educational track record personally. This is what i need after reading this book. More information, and More motivation. So, this book is highly recommended for anyone who are interested in Australia as a further educational destination. Expectively, i can assume to grasp my dream to study in Australian presently.
